The HIV epidemic continues to pose enormous challenges in the United States both for the communities affected and for health care professionals who serve those communities. Health care providers are increasingly being asked to identify ways to improve the quality of care delivered to people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA). Health Information Technology (HIT) holds great promise in helping providers to better coordinate and monitor health care services and ultimately improve the health outcomes of the HIV-infected clients they serve.
