The Peace of Paper: Patient Lists as Work Tools

posted in: Updates in Informatics | 0

The development and implementation of information and communication technology (ICT) systems in hospitals have proven to be challenging processes, especially because of the mobile and fragmented nature of hospital work {Bardram, 2003 #999;Bardram, 2005 #743;Bardram, 2006 #1005;Monteiro, 2003 #962;Reuss, 2007 #1218;Tang, 2007 #1263;Saleem, 2011 #1265;Saleem, 2009 #1266}. Consequently, even the most modern hospitals maintain a number of paper-based systems, although these are now losing formal status as legal documents {Reuss, 2007 #1218;Hardey, 2000 #1255;Saleem, 2009 #1266}.
